IN THE NAME OF ALLAH (GOD) , THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE MOST MERCIFUL

As-salaam-alaikum (Peace be unto you)

Many of you have asked yourselves the question, when will I experience a “spiritual” breakthrough in life so that things can become better from worry, doubt and stress? Well, asking that spiritual question is fine, but one must know that physical action is required for the God action to come about! One has to ask themselves these questions of how to move in a new life direction and it starts like this: (1) Have you striven to obey Allah’s (God’s) laws and virtues? (2) What sins have you committed to let Satan bring your life into shambles? (3) Are you willing to move forward in improving your current life for the better? Once you can truly answer these questions, then will Allah (God) take a step to lift you up out of your spiritual dilemma. “One has to test one’s faith”, otherwise, how will one be able to progress forward in his or her new spiritual life?

And the deepest spiritual question of all deals with romantic love; “when will Allah (God) send or have me meet someone to love?” Allah (God) will only come to your aide on this question of romance if your spiritual intentions are pure in seeking marriage. As marriage is union, as Allah (God) is one! Mind you, all the above referenced questions of a spiritual nature are also important, and I’ll come back to the love situation in a bit.

Pertaining to the first three questions, one has to be able to find oneself — the real you! Here I’m going to give you all a unique Sufi (mystical Islamic) teaching story that spiritually illustrates the point of finding ones true self, titled, WHAT IS IDENTITY? “When someone knocked on the door, Bayazid called out; ‘whom do you seek?’ The caller answered, ‘Bayazid’. Bayazid replied, I too have been seeking Bayazid for three decades and I have not yet found him”.

So as one can see from reading and spiritually meditating on this short Sufi teaching story, being spiritually lost is not a good thing! But with Allah (God), hope is not very far away! Here is another Sufi teaching story for remedy of the lost spiritual self:

THE DOOR

“Salih of Qazwin taught his disciples; ‘whoever knocks at the door continually, it will be opened to him’;

Rubia, hearing him one day said, How long will you say it will be opened? The door has never been shut?”

Allah (God) is always willing and ready for you to come to him, just as you are. And he will help you make the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional changes in your life, so that you will have joy! Never think that you are all alone. Come to Allah (God) and he will rescue you and set you free.

**Note: (1) Salih of Qazwin was a Sufi Islamic teacher who lived during the 8th century. (2) Rabia too lived during the same time period, she was one of the first female Sufi teachers.

Now, as I told you I would, I will return to the “love” topic to help you better understand. Earlier I made reference to romantic love, but as you all know there is more than one type of love. There is love of family and friends, love of parents, love for Allah’s (God’s) environment and most of all love for Allah’s (God’s) humanity.

Here, I want you all to read and meditate upon this Sufi teaching instruction by one of the great Sufi Islamic teachers of the past, Titled “ Knowledge — Action — Love”.

KNOWLEDGE — ACTION — LOVE

“Love is a way to truth, to knowledge, to action. But only those who know of real love can approach these things by means of love. The others have misunderstood certain other feelings for those of real love. Weakest of all are those who idealize love and seek to approach it before they can give it anything or take anything of it.

“Truth is a way to love, to knowledge, to action. But only those who can find real truth can follow its path as a way. Others (who are not in the right simply because they are in the majority), imagine that they may find truth, even though they do not know where to seek it, since what they call truth is something less.

“Knowledge is a way to action, to love, to truth. But since it is not the kind of knowledge that people hold it to be, they do not benefit from it. It is everywhere, but they cannot see it, and call out for it while it is beside them all the time.

“Action too is a way. It is a way to love, to truth, to knowledge. But what action when and where? Action with whom, and towards what end? What is the kind of action that we mean when we say, it is a way? Such a different action as to mean that man may carry it out without knowing it. Again, he will generally be so immersed in action of another kind that he will not be able to perform the right action which he needs. So although we may be misjudged for saying this, we affirm as real fact that; exalted truth has blessed the Teachers with understanding of knowledge of the ways. Let us prattle no more of ‘I seek love’, ‘I desire knowledge’, ‘I wish for truth’. My object is action, unless we want men to know that we are empty, and in reality seek nothing. Love is Action; Action is Knowledge; Knowledge is Truth; Truth is Love.”

By Sufi-Islamic Teacher, Rauf Mazari, Niazi

Well, as all of you can see, spiritual un-foldment will bring great results if put into practice! So, love the life you live in accordance with Allah’s (God’s) will and good blessings will shower down upon you.

Lastly, I want all of you to tell your wives and husbands of one another that you love them very much. For those of you who have children together, biological and adopted, tell them you love them. Children, tell your parents that you love them as well. Keep relatives, friends, and even your pets (spiritual smile) in your heart of love in this cycle of time, because on the next cycle of time neither will you know yourselves, children, family and friends, but only Allah (God) shall remain, and until the resurrection of the deserving ones in paradise.

Insha-Allah (God willing) I’ll teach more on the Zaidun (death and rebirth) of the self as it was taught to me by my spiritual Teachers in Egypt. In the meantime, stay safe and well until we meet again.

Salaam (Peace).

Allah-u-Akbar! (God is Great!)

Holy Quran, Surah Qaf (Chapter) 50:16 (Yusuf Ali translation)

16. It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions

his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.
